When Madara was defeated, he finally realized how many regrets he had carried with him. His clan had used him as a weapon against the Senju, he was blinded with hatred and swore to take revenge for his brother, in the end he couldn't achieve anything. Madara's heart ached as he watched Hashirama approach him, at the moment of death he wished for many things. He'd wished that he was not manipulated by hatred, he'd wished his brother hadn't died, he'd wished that he wasn't born in the Uchiha Clan, he'd wished that he and Hashirama could've stayed friends, or more. He'd wished he could be rebirthed and live a peaceful life with Hashirama and Izuna by his side. God took pity and fulfilled some of his wishes.

Madara Uchiha died. He died not too long after his battle with Hashirama Senju, his former best friend. He used Izanagi beforehand in his right eye in case he lost to Hashirama which he did. After Obito decided to follow his footsteps, Madara named Obito the "Chosen One", and disconnected himself from the Gedo Mazo which immediately killed him. He died once. After Madara was being manipulated and was betrayed by Black Zetsu, Kaguya Otsutsuki took over his body, but when she was defeated and sealed again, Madara's body was too damaged, so he died. He died twice. So, how did he end up in the world of the living? Yes he came back, as the Madara Uchiha, He was reborn into his previous era, almost like time travel, But...he came back.. as a female? He is indeed grateful. Kami has given him a second chance to rewrite all of his mistakes. But...a girl? Madara knows that he will fix this, make a new world; the better one; the one where the dreams are real and where it is ok for a boy to love another boy, a world where he will be loved just as much as he loves. It may be an illusion, but it will be as real as possible.
