Nagsimula ang lahat sa isang bahay na may brown tape. Ang brown tape na naghahati sa bahay sa dalawa. Dito nagkakilala ang binata'ng si Kari, gwapo, mestiso, at maganda ang hubog ng katawan, at ang dalaga'ng si Asra, maganda, maputi, pero may katarayan nga lang. Nahati ang bahay sa dalawa dahil kalahati lang ang nabayaran ng lolo ni Kari nang ibenta ito ni Asra. Nahati man ang bahay sa dalawa ay madalas naman sila'ng nagkikita na naging dahilan upang mahulog ang loob nila sa isa't isa. Dumating ang araw na umasenso si Kari sa buhay, at isa ito sa mga naging dahilan kung bakit mas dumami ang hadlang sa pag-iibigan nila ni Asra.
