One of the winners of the Once Upon Now contest! Feet Aren't Made for Walking will be renamed Truth Be Told and will be published by Gallery Books, an imprint of Simon and Schuster, on October 11, 2016 in the Once Upon Now Anthology! ---------------------------- Leo Clark is having a really bad day. He's been transported into a topsy-turvy alternate universe (not a good thing when your mom's expecting you home for dinner), he's recently acquired wooden extremities and is physically incapable of telling a lie (an even worse thing when you pride yourself on not sharing your emotions), and his little sister has been kidnapped, mistaken for the lost princess of the Land of Pittsborough (the worst thing of all because...please refer back to the part about Mom making dinner). In order to save his sister and find a way home, Leo will have to confront an evil queen who lives in an office cubicle, a few mice with horrible fashion sense, and a girl with green skin and webbed toes (but hey, at least she's kind of cute). And he'll have to do it all before the clock strikes midnight or risk being trapped in Pittsborough forever. Now if only he could figure out how to walk on his wooden feet... --------------------------- This short story is a modern day fairytale mashup, partially inspired by Pinocchio, The Frog Prince, and many others. Enjoy!

When the elements collide, you'd best get out of the way. Like, fast. ----- Jason and Addison were complete strangers with almost opposite lives. Jason was a normal guy, and wanted nothing more than to be free of his bordering abusive family, to finally not be afraid of what the morning would bring, and spent as much time as he could running away from them and the problems they brought on him. Addison was famous to her fellow Elementalists, but desperately wanted to know why and how her parents died, leaving their six month old only daughter to grow up checking over her shoulder at every step. A prophesy about a war of the Elements brings them together, helping Jason learn more about himself than he ever thought he'd know, and teaching Addison that vendettas aren't the way to a happy ending. Self-discovery, unexpected friends and creatures they could barely dream of await these two. Will they survive and prevent the deaths of others, or will the world boil down into an endless Elemental War? ----- So this is the Chosen. The One Who Shall Spell Our Doom Or Our Victory. He would be easily crushed if not for that good-for-nothing Air Elementalist. Break her and we break him. Break her and we control him. Break her and we control our destiny.

Break-ups are a part of life. Seventeen-year-old Calypso Evans understands break-ups, having instigated a fair few of them herself in the past. Then again, quite a lot had happened in Calypso's past, so she tried her hardest to stick to the present. Occasionally, though, the present sucks. Calypso finds this out the hard way, when she discovers her boyfriend is cheating on her, and in her best friend's efforts to console her, Calypso makes the irreversible mistake of kissing them. It doesn't help that her best friend is also a girl. ----- 'I turned to the mirror and looked myself right in the eye. I hesitated before telling my reflection sternly: "It's just a phase."' ----- ~Copyright © 2016 Saskia (RJ) Marks.~ ~No. 1 in the Generation LGBT Saga.~ ~Cover by @s_huddar.~ ~Started on 29/12/2015.~ ~Completed on --/--/----.~

[EXCERPT - FIRST 5 CHAPTERS] THE FULL BOOK IS AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE IN STORES AND ONLINE! Never trust a guy in spandex. In Abby Hamilton's world, superheroes do more than just stop crime and save cats stuck in trees - they also drink milk straight from the carton and hog the television remote. Abby's older brother moonlights as the famous Red Comet, but without powers of her own, following in his footsteps has never crossed her mind. That is, until the city's newest vigilante comes bursting into her life. After saving Abby from an attempted mugging, Morriston's fledgling supervillain Iron Phantom convinces her that he's not as evil as everyone says - and that their city is under a vicious new threat. As Abby follows him deeper into their city's darkest secrets, she comes to learn that heroes can't always be trusted, and sometimes it's the good guys who wear black.
