You grew fond of two other experiments whom you nicknamed Sans and Papyrus. The routines seemed to grow normal, coma-induced trances, painful tests... And then nothing... Your small hold over the Underground is ripped away from you and you are thrown into a dying timeline, monsterkind's final attempt at self-preservation. You're alone, completely and utterly alone. Except one. And he has a bone to pick with you.

He killed them all. Dust, down the waters of the the forest it runs, through the veins of the skeletons and the demons that prowl the night. It's the silent enemy, the adversary that slowly chokes and brings down entire armies to their knees. None can oppose it for none have the will or the strength. And it is the dust that emerges from the mouth of a mountain that overlooks a city, the dust that creeps and crawls through the forest and down the alleyways. It is the dust that wraps its bony hands around the throats of the damned ignorant enough to walk the streets, squeezing until the last heartbeat thrums. You are a detective in this city, a quaint area with little crime and a police force hopped up on Dunkin Donuts. But when a string of murders plagues the town, you are thrown on the case following cold leads and an ominous trail of dust. But one night, when you catch wind of a scream and follow it through the dark, you find a skeleton and the rest is history.

There's something wrong with the timeline. You've lived in an underground crypt with cracked green walls for as long as you can remember. And that's entirely the problem, you can only remember so much. Even as tortures and experiments continue without end, you're plagued with nightmares and glimpses into a different life, a life outside the green walls that you've been trapped inside for your entire life. There's a demon in the lab. Somewhere, you're sure of it, the scientist whom you have learned to hate is keeping a secret, another human besides yourself locked away. You don't know why or how they're connected to you, only that their name is Kris and they might be the answer to everything. There's something wrong with the timeline. And the whole universe might be thrown into chaos and bloodshed before you can fix it.

The multiverse is in ruins. In the aftermath of a bloody war between Nightmare and Ink that cost the live of billions, the painter and the few remnants of his followers find themselves picking up the pieces of a multiverse that seems to be on the brink of collapse.
