Children grasp for adulthood like drowning men reach for air, blind to the fact that they are trading lungs for gills.
Some believe themselves cheated of glory, wealth, fame, and the destiny they were surely meant for. Others simply wish to outrun their misery. Yet both burn with the same hunger... to have it all quicker, bigger and sooner. So, they pray for time to sprint. For the world to finally acknowledge their worth.
But growing up is not an ascension. It is quite a patient undressing.
Health crumbles. Wonder fades. Then the trust you once gave strangers without a second thought. Fame becomes a currency too heavy to carry. Respect becomes negotiation. And the wealth you chased for so long buys you everything but the ability to feel full.
By the time you understand the transaction, you are already standing at the counter, empty-handed, wishing only to be a child again.
This is a lesson Keisei Yukimura learns not too late throughout his life. Holding on to the last bit of positivity he still carries.
