The scent hits first. Dark rose, white pepper, and something sharp underneath - like cold metal at midnight. Jennie Ruby Jane walks through the glass doors of Kim Corp's headquarters, and time bends. Staff straighten up. Conversations drop mid-sentence. She doesn't look at anyone. She never needs to. Her heels click against imported marble as if announcing a verdict, not an arrival. Her face is unreadable - not emotionless, just carefully engineered. As perfect and untouchable as the perfume empire she built from scratch. Jennie is not warm. She is gravity in a black suit. ⸻ On the 28th floor, Lisa hears the footsteps before she sees her. Always five minutes early. Always in black. Always smelling like heartbreak in a bottle. Lisa turns slightly, pretending to read the numbers on her iPad. Her fingers hover above the screen, frozen. Don't look like you've loved her for years. Jennie walks past her. Doesn't speak. Just pauses for a half-second - enough to flick her gaze toward Lisa's direction - then disappears into the corner office. Lisa doesn't breathe until the door closes. ⸻ It's been 4 years. 4 promotions. Hundreds of sleepless nights building the very campaigns that made Jennie Kim ahousehold name across Southeast Asia. Lisa is the youngest Marketing Director in company history. She's sharp, strategic, respected. Instead, she's exhausted - from carrying numbers on her back by day and emotions on her chest by night. Jennie never touches her. Never says her name unless necessary. Never lets her get too close. But somehow... never quite lets her go, either. ⸻ Rosé says Lisa's addicted to the pain. Jisoo just calls it career suicide in slow motion. Lisa doesn't answer either of them. She just keeps showing up. Keeps designing campaigns around the way Jennie moves. Keeps writing scent descriptions that read more like love letters. Keeps pretending her chest doesn't ache every time Jennie smiles - just slightly - at someone who isn't her

Jennie Kim was in her third year at Chung-Ang University, the crown jewel of their two-time national cheerleading champions. She carried the weight of the title "captain" with pride-grace in every stunt, fire in every chant, and a presence that could command a stadium. It was during the first rivalry match of the new season that she saw her. Across the field, framed by the fever-bright floodlights and the roar of the crowd, moved a girl with an aura that didn't belong to a newcomer. Too gorgeous. Too skilled. Too certain of her place. Then the whispers reached Jennie-she was a freshman. Not just that-a freshman captain for Korea University's soccer team. Unheard of. Curiosity slid into her veins like a sudden fever. Lisa Manoban felt the weight of the stare before she found its source. When her eyes finally locked onto Jennie, the stadium around them faded into a hum. She wasn't supposed to be distracted-not in the middle of a heated match, not by someone on the sidelines-but the Chung-Ang captain was something else entirely. Beauty sharpened by grit, elegance wrapped in steel. In that instant, the air between them shifted. Two leaders. Two rivals. Two sparks striking in the middle of a war drum's beat. Would the rivalry douse the fire before it could burn? Or had fate already decided it didn't matter? And in this rivalry, compelling can be even more dangerous than skill.

The Promise No One Heard "I'll stand beside you, even if I'm the only one who knows I'm not supposed to." ⸻ The wedding invitations were already printed. A thousand ivory envelopes sealed with Jennie's initials. It was supposed to be the happiest weekend of her life. Lisa stood in the shadows of the hallway, watching as Jennie sat on the floor of her dressing room - veil undone, hair coming loose, face pale under the soft lights. She wasn't crying anymore. That part was over. Now, she just looked hollow. Lisa's heart had broken a hundred times for her. But tonight, it shattered in a new, final way. "I saw him," Jennie had whispered. "I went to the office to surprise him. She was on his desk." Lisa hadn't asked who she was. She didn't need to. The answer didn't matter. What mattered was the girl in front of her, breathing like her chest was cracked open. And the silence between them, full of all the things Lisa would never say. She wanted to take Jennie's hand. She wanted to say, "Choose me instead." But what she said was: "You don't have to marry him." Jennie laughed bitterly. "You think I can just disappear? After everything my family's done, after all the guests...? The papers already think we're perfect." Lisa hesitated. Then something inside her - the part that had loved Jennie for years, in shadows and silence - broke free. "Then marry me." The words fell like glass between them. Jennie blinked slowly. "What?" "You need someone," Lisa said softly. "Let it be me." And for a moment, Jennie didn't answer. She just stared - like she wasn't sure if Lisa was serious. Like maybe, deep down, part of her had always known this moment would come. "Why would you do that?" she whispered. Lisa looked away. Because if she looked into her eyes, she wouldn't survive it. "Because you don't deserve to stand alone. Not now. Not ever." That night, a new contract was signed. And Lisa became Jennie's bride.

"If you still want to be with me, I'll stay by your side..." Lisa firmly said, her voice steady but heavy with unspoken emotions, as if she were standing on the precipice of a life-altering decision. Jennie blinked, caught off guard. Her breath hitched in her throat, and she struggled to gather her thoughts. "H-Huh?" she stammered, a whirlwind of nerves churning inside her. "Do you still have feelings for me?" Lisa asked, her gaze piercing through Jennie with an honesty that left no room for evasion. "W-What?" "Do you still like me, Jennie?" In that moment, time seemed to stand still. Jennie's heart raced, each beat echoing in her ears like a distant drum. Fear and hope collided within her, creating a tempest of emotion. After a moment that felt like an eternity, she nodded, breathless. "Yes." Lisa held her gaze, the silence stretching between them as if the weight of their shared history hung in the air. Finally, she spoke, her tone resolute. "I regret it, Jennie..." "What do you mean?" Jennie's confusion deepened. ...I regret the time we've wasted apart... "Let's be together," Lisa declared, her voice unwavering. "I don't need you to do anything. I don't need you to promise me forever or to stand by me without fail. If the day comes when you want to leave me...when you want to walk away, then let's part ways. But right now, at this moment, let's choose to be together." After ten long years of searching and thousands of miles of being alone, it turns out... ...the only thing Lisa truly wanted was to be with Jennie. ••• This is merely an adaptation. Autistic Lisa Manoban had never been ordinary. She was brilliant but misunderstood, soft-spoken yet unshakably steady. Her stutter made her a target of whispers, her routines and quiet habits made her seem distant. For years, she thought those things meant she would always stand apart, never quite belonging to anyone. Jennie Kim was the queen bee of Kim University. Sharp, fearless, adored and feared in equal measure. Her name carried power in every hallway, her gaze could silence a crowd. To most, Jennie was untouchable - too high above to be reached, too fierce to be tamed. But what no one expected was that the queen bee's gaze would fall on the quiet, autistic professor. And stay there. Lisa still tapped her fingers against the desk, a rhythm that calmed her when the world felt too loud. She still stumbled on words sometimes, still needed space when everything grew overwhelming. But none of it made Jennie step back. Instead, Jennie leaned closer, wrapping her arms around her from behind, pressing her chin lightly against Lisa's shoulder as if to say: you are safe with me. "Still tapping," Jennie whispered with a small smirk, her voice carrying the same playfulness it always did when she teased her. Lisa's lips curved, shy but steady. For once, she didn't look away. For once, she let herself believe. Because the queen bee had chosen her - not despite her autism, but with it. Because Jennie Kim saw her fully: vulnerable, strong, different, perfect. In the end, it wasn't the power of the queen or the brilliance of the professor that mattered. It was simply this: the way Jennie saw Lisa. And the way Lisa finally believed she deserved to be seen.
