The characters are highly complex and they exist in a world that values strength over compassion, only the strong survive. The life inside the pack mimics that of a real wolf pack with a strict hierarchy that is established through fighting and power. It is also comparable to a medieval court, the king holds his divine right to rule and the queen exists solely to please and support the king. Throw in scheming courtiers with the ability to change into wolves with sharp claws and fangs and you have the pack construct. As the characters are basically wolves housed in a human skin and the story is laced with animalistic references and traits displayed by all. We first meet the main characters Meela and Grey it is on a bloody battlefield where they recognize each other as their soul mate, and Grey takes Meela as tribute for his pack's help in her brother's fight. From this point on Meela belongs to Grey, and in this world, a highly spirited female with a propensity for impulsive actions matched to a dog stubborn, self-assured, dominant male is going to cause problems. We follow Meela in her journey to become the pack's Luna, a pack who are even more wolf than the one she comes from, and with a mate who has set the highest standards for her to reach as his Luna(female Alpha) and will accept nothing less than perfection. In the midst of all this and the struggle they face to form a personal and public relationship, there is one incident that will change them both and the fate of the pack completely. From that point on both Meela and Grey are inevitably changed and for them to be together, either one or both needs to change, but when you live in a world where you are taught that weakness is easily exploited and to admit defeat can potentially lead to your destruction. Thank you @chortle for the great summary

{Valleyside Pack} Aaron was found by a small pack, abandoned and alone when just a pup. The Beta family took him in and raised him as their own when they couldn't have a pup of their own. He was loved and cherished, happy and spoiled. His twin wasn't. Cody was found by a group of rogues hours after the pack arrived. He was found hidden a couple feet from his brother. The pack hadn't thought there were two pups and with the smoke clear in the air and the roaring fire, he wasn't scented or heard. Cody was left forgotten. He grew up mistreated and tortured, abused and sold. When Cody escapes his brutal life, he finds himself trespassing on a pack far east. What he didn't know was the fact that the twin brother he never knew existed lived in that same pack. With rogues on his tail, and a brother that asks too much, Cody didn't believe his life would turn into a battle for freedom. And when he happens to find his mate, he knows everything he now has will be ripped from him. After all, he IS property and the brand above his heart reminds him of that. (This is not Twincest, okay?)

Sword still in her hands, she stomped her foot again. "Why are you smiling?" Brainwashed? Check. Sheltered? Check. Lost and alone? Check and, uh, check. That about summed Megan up. Banished from the heavens-kicked out-same thing-everyone thought for sure that this was it for her. Of course, no one had taken the demon King into account. He shrugged. "Because I'm happy." "Why?" She asked. "Because I find you endearing." "Why?" Desperate? Damn straight. Loved up? Beyond recognition. Prepared to rip anybody and everybody's throat out at any given moment for looking at her wrong? Absolutely. Claudio had waited far too long for his mate. Nothing was getting in the way of their forever. Not life. Not death. Certainly not a war that she'd be heading. "Because I've waited a long time for this. I'm going to explain to you what it means to be a... mate."

- "What's wrong, gatia? You're too pale," he said softly, using one hand to brush my hair from my forehead. I happily basked in his touch, feeling comforted already. "I... uh," I trailed off quietly, not really wanting to say. I was suddenly worried of him thinking I was insane. Biting my lip and looking down at the ground, I took a deep breath. "I just... didn't feel c-comfortable. L-like someone was...w-watching me," I stumbled out pathetically, internally wincing. "Like... h-he was watching m-me," I added almost silently, the words slipping out almost without my permission. Almost instantly, his arms wrapped tightly around me as he tugged me into his very bare and warm chest, hunching over my protectively. I felt his chest vibrate as he let out a small growl, but instead of terrifying me like it should, it made me sigh in comfort. "You never have to worry about him, sweetheart, I promise." He softly purred, his voice still sounding rough even as he tried to lighten it. I liked the rougher part of his voice; it made me feel even more protected. "As long as I'm around, he'll never hurt you again; and I don't plan on going anywhere or letting you go anytime soon." - In a world where vampires and werewolves are very much real, Emily is stuck right in the middle. She was barely kindergarten age when she was kidnapped by a strong vampire coven. They stole everything from her and their main leader, Christien, quickly became obsessed with her; his favorite prize. But what's a vampire to do when a powerful alpha werewolf, Anton, saves his possesion? What's a poor Emily to do when that werewolf turns out to be her mate? Let's just say that Chrisiten isn't about to give up easily; but neither is Anton.
