Between having a son that she adores more than anything, but is fearful of letting him go to people she doesn't trust, she now has to take on the understanding that her life is about to get worse in a way. If being a Princess wasn't enough, add on the marriage to a federal agent. Having a son with said agent, and then moving to the BAU to be a respected individual who just so happened to take out her own cousin for his terrorist ways. I don't know what else would scream, target! Athena Gibbs has to navigate her career without putting the ones she loves in more danger. The NCIS doesn't really get involved in the day-to-day murders, only the ones that involved the Marines or Navy, but if the serial killers knew who her family was, there are going to be a lot more problems.
