This implies to both parties; There was friendship... then there was heartbreak. He couldn't take his love's tender rejection, as it was such a suffocating experience. He loved them, but the other loved another. He knew how much the other loved the other, for the person he's into told lots of things about the other. There was never any room for his name to be described in such a way, on how the other described the person they're so deeply invested to. He tried everything, and did everything he could do in his power to make the other notice him- to ADMIRE him even. But sad to say, all of his efforts went down the drain.
