This is a BBC Merlin AU where Arthur lives at the end of season 5 and decides to repay Merlin for everything that he's ever done for Camelot. The knights of the round table, Arthur, and Merlin go on a week long hunting trip. Secrets start to come out. Uther begins to fear Arthur's strength and power he holds over his knights and banishes him. Arthur must then begin to fight to become the king he is supposed to be. He only heard a faint bump when he should have heard something a lot louder. Merlin's fears from the previous day came true as he sat there in bed trying to process it. The ringing had gone, but he still couldn't hear anything. OR Merlin gets injured in a fight and is rendered temporarily deaf. He doesn't want Arthur to find out, but he does anyway. Angst and hurt/comfort ahead.

Starting at the beginning of Season 4, Lancelot and Merlin manage to close the rift without a sacrifice. With Arthur curious about magic, Merlin finds himself revealing his talents to the most trusted of the knights and to the prince. Together they decide that they will bring magic back to Camelot when Arthur becomes king. Also, a funny Merlin meme in every chapter. For no reason, just cause I liked them. And I don't own Merlin, obviously. Just the story.

Merlin cannot lose Arthur. And he won't. What if he had called Kilgharrah a little sooner? What if he had been able to save Arthur's life? Would we finally get the Albion we dreamed about? An Albion where Merlin is the court sorcerer, sitting proudly at Arthur's right on the round table? Where Merlin is respected, where magic is finally free?
