In the passenger seat of a sleek black Audi, I sat fuming, arms crossed tightly against my chest.
A tense silence hung in the air as he drove.
The rain smacked against the windshield a rhythmic tapping doing little to ease the heavy atmosphere between us.
"Why won't you just talk to me?" I burst out my voice breaking the quiet, taut with frustration.
He glanced at me briefly his expression unreadable before returning his attention to the road.
"I'm driving," he replied gruffly his tone clipped and indifferent.
I glared at him, my anger bubbling hotter. "You nah talk to me?"
His grip on the steering wheel tightened but his voice remained calm almost too calm.
"It's not a big deal."
"Not a big deal?" I shot back, "Either you talk or let me outta this car."
He mumbled something under his breath, the first crack in his facade of calmness.
"Yuh being unreasonable," he said, his tone sharp now.
My eyes widened in disbelief. "Unreasonable? Mi just ask fi yuh talk to mi! Is it really too much fi ask fi a bit of communication?"
The tension snapped like a rubber band. "Betta mi jump outta dis car," I said, my hand darting for the door handle.
In an instant, he locked the doors as he slammed on the brakes.
The sudden stop jerked me forward, the seatbelt the only thing keeping me from hitting the dashboard.
"Nuh mek mi affi do something mi will regret Kim" he mumbled, shaking his head his laugh low and unamused.
"Do it! if yuh think yuh bad!" I shot back meeting his gaze without flinching.
He turned his head sharply toward me, his eyes narrowing. Before I could even register what was happening, he leaned forward.......
