My young daughter has been watching a lot of Sofia the First on Disney Junior. The story is very straight forward. a marriage between her shoemaker mother and the King made her a Princess "overnight". My question, while watching this, is how did this happen? How did a lowly shoemaker meet, not to mention fall in love with (because they are ridiculously in love!) a king? With some liberties taken, here follows my version of how this romance unfolded.

Known as "Bertie" among his family and close friends, George VI was born in the reign of his great-grandmother Queen Victoria and was named after his great-grandfather Albert, Prince Consort. As the second son of King George V, he was not expected to inherit the throne and spent his early life in the shadow of his elder brother, Edward. The king and queen remained in London during the Blitz. He was seen as sharing the hardships of the common people and his popularity soared. George relinquished the title of Emperor of India in June 1948 and instead adopted the new title of Head of the Commonwealth. Iduna is a very secretive woman. Only little is known about her past as she never wants to mention it. One night, she woke up from her sleep in a shaken state, memories flowing back to her mind. As she tried to quietly exit her room, Agnarr had caught her. He notices fear in her gaze. He notices something she doesn't want to share. Iduna realizes there's no turning back now. There was no point in lying anymore. This was the moment to tell her husband everything about what she had been keeping from him all these years.
