After being unexpectedly dumped the night of her firm's Christmas party, thoroughly modern Noelle James decides to skip the festivities and go for a walk along Fifth Avenue. The last thing she expected to happen was to be accosted by a man dressed in all fur and leather carrying a lethal-looking sword and asking for her to help him find his way back to Mirkwood. As in, The Hobbit Mirkwood. But not the novel, the movie. Thorin Oakenshield has no idea how he ended up in modern day New York City, and no idea how to get back to where he belongs. The last thing he remembers is becoming disoriented while wandering through the enchanted forest at Mirkwood. He stumbled forward and out of his world into one wholly foreign to him. And now he has to rely on this one woman to help him. And neither one of them was at all prepared for things not quite going as they were supposed to...

Following the Battle of the Five Armies, a grievously wounded Thorin is brought back to the kingdom of Erebor, which is still mostly in ruins. Although he's survived the wounds he received at the end of Azog's blade, his recovery is far from complete. When she's asked to help the dwarves tend to their wounded, medical student Jasna Stoneham reluctantly agrees. Not only is she only just barely a qualified to even set foot in the infirmary, but she stutters when she gets nervous and nervous does not even begin to describe how she's feeling. To make matters worse, no one thought to warn her that she would be caring for the king himself, Thorin Oakenshield. Unfortunately, the road to recovery isn't necessarily a smooth one, but if there's one thing Thorin will learn, it's that what Jasna lacks in experience and training, she makes up for in stubbornness, giving him a run for his money. And for every backwards step he takes, she is there to push him three steps forward. And Jasna will soon find out that there is a gentle, softer side to the dwarf king, one that very few people have ever seen and one he fights to keep hidden from her as well. But like his recovery, that is also easier said than done.

Speech therapist Josephine Asharm has been brought into Erebor to work with Bifur, but trying to find her place among people who eye her suspiciously would be difficult enough under normal circumstances, but when Sophie finds herself caught between the king, his most trusted lieutenant, and the dwarf she's there to help? She's certain no good can come of it. Thorin only agreed to allow Sophie to live amongst them out of a sense of duty to Bifur, who is recovering from an odd head injury (is there any other way to describe having an axe blade lodged in one's head, only to have it later dislodged during the Battle of the Five Armies?) Before the battle, he spoke only khuzdul. But since it? He's regained the ability to speak Westron-if only he could but remember any of it. As for Thorin? He's trying his damndest to ignore his own growing feelings for her, even as he is also recovering from his near fatal wounding in the same battle. Both Sophie and Thorin are haunted by their pasts and are uncertain of their futures, but sometimes, chances must be taken...

The Hobbit Fanfiction Bofur x OC It was hard to imagine Bofur taking anything seriously. He was the optimistic one of the Company, the one always joking around, the one singing and dancing on tables to lighten the mood. That was why no one noticed his change of character when he met the joyful Periwinkle, the only female member in the Company. He went out of his way to make her smile and laugh, and no one found that out of the ordinary since, well, it was Bofur. And while he was keeping his joyful composure, there was a sliver of fear and grief that the lass would not return his feelings, since who would ever fall for an ordinary dwarf?

Born of darkness. Forged in fire. Bound by fate. Diana Vanserra is an outcast; half human, half-elf, and the last of the Nyxarian line, a bloodline feared for its shadow-wielding power. Once a princess of a hidden mountain realm, her world was shattered when Azog the Defiler slaughtered her kin under Sauron's command and enslaved her for years. Now free, she's become a deadly force of vengeance, carving her way through Middle-earth in pursuit of justice. When Gandalf witnesses her fury firsthand, he offers her a new path: join a dwarven prince named Thorin Oakenshield and a Hobbit burglar on a quest to reclaim Erebor from the dragon Smaug. Reluctantly, Diana agrees, but from the moment she meets Thorin, the two are fire and flint. Prideful, headstrong, and unyielding, they clash at every turn. Yet as the journey grows darker and the stakes rise, so too does the bond between them, built not on trust; but on shared scars, buried pain, and a slow-burning desire that neither dares to admit.
