He couldn't find it in himself to shrug it away, overwhelmed by the feelings of love that washed through him as Wilbur began to hum. The tune was soft, sweet, and made him oblivious to who exactly sat next to him. The man who had caused the same pain he now healed. "I can't wait for tomorrow," Wilbur whispered, the semblance of a spell dancing in his words. But Tommy didn't trust him; didn't trust his bloodied face, didn't trust his small smile, didn't trust this entire fucked game, even as Wilbur spoke again, a touch of remorse hidden beneath his words. "I mean no harm." Tommy nearly scoffed. "Everyone here means harm, bitch. Don't try to fucking lie to me." "I promise you-" "I didn't ask for a promise," Tommy cut him off. 'Do you know how worried we were?' his brother asked, a hiss sounding as Tommy attempted to move to look up at him. He was only squeezed tighter in response. 'You didn't come home last night. How was I supposed to know that you hadn't gotten lost?' Tommy swallowed nervously, gently wrapping his arms around his sibling's torso and clutching onto the fabric of their coat. 'The forest would have shown me the way back,' he managed. Tommy tensed up, hiding his face in their chest and holding on even tighter. Emperor Philza is always occupied; Tommy hasn't seen Techno in months, and even if Wilbur is here, in the capital, their relationship can be described to be strained at best. The royal family doesn't need to be close, however, it only needs to be balanced, like the pillars holding the country above their heads - as long as they are strong and steady, the Empire will be too. It's the principle that held Tommy's back straight and his shoulders broad through the years of hardships and trials of errors; through yet another formal meeting where his father's gaze would look past him and where his brother's words would be filled with poison that makes the deepest parts of his soul ache.
