ONC 2026 entry, prompt 5. Every day at the exact same time your cat slips out of your home. One afternoon, curiosity gets the better of you, and you follow, only to discover it's living a secret life you never imagined. My take, cats save the world as a backdrop to a romcom.

From a young age, I have always held myself in higher regard than my family did. I believed that I could work anything out. All my classmates were in awe of me. I naturally exerted power over them, and they elected me as class representative time and time again. At home, a baseball bat reminded me to obey my mum every time I tried to prove her wrong. Why was it so hard to see that one plus one equals two? Being beaten and isolated in a sardine can for long periods of time led me to the world of words in the thesaurus to help me cope with my difficult life.
