she's been drawing the same shape on my stomach for the past hour. "What are you drawing?" I ask softly as I gently smoothing her hair back. She looks up at me with tired, blue eyes, and whispers, "Camelopardalis." Her voice is quiet, almost fragile, the way you get when you've crying for hours. I don't ask why she was upset last night, why she came to my house crying in the middle of the night. "Camelo-what?" I repeat, raising an eyebrow. She lifts her head from my chest, nodding slightly. "It's a constellation," she says softly, "also known as the giraffe." A faint smile touches her lips, and she laughs quietly. That laugh-soft and genuine. "Will you show me one day?" I ask, gazing into her sad but beautiful blue eyes. She settles back against me, her voice barely above a whisper. "Maybe," she shrugs. - - - 𝐑𝐎𝐘𝐂𝐄 𝐉𝐀𝐘 𝐖𝐀𝐋𝐓𝐄𝐑-everyone calls him RJ-is the school's golden boy: star football player, Mr. #10, tall, athletic, blond, privileged. Now twenty-four, Blanchard returns home with her five-year-old daughter, Willow, and a dying mother who's asked for one final thing-her presence. But coming home means facing the ghosts she thought she'd buried, including the man she's never truly stopped loving. Rueben "Benny" Bailey did what his family expected. Stayed, took over the farm, and proposed to the girl everyone said was right for him. "You win." My breath caught. "What are you talking about?" He turned then, slowly, like it took everything he had left, and crossed the space between us in two steps. Suddenly he was right there in front of me. His face was pale, streaked with exhaustion, his eyes burning with something between heartbreak and fury. He bent down slightly, close enough that I could feel the tremor in his breath. "I love you." I blinked. He stared at me, his jaw tight, then he gave a small, broken laugh. "There," he said. "You got your money. Are you happy now?" ━━━━⊱⋆⊰━━━━ Maeve Beaumont has always known the choreography of perfection. Cheer captain, ballerina, daughter of a woman who mistakes control for love, she's built her world on poise and performance. But when a careless bet turns into something far too real, Maeve finds herself drawn towards Stanley Uris; the quiet boy. Stan doesn't belong in her universe, and he doesn't want to. His life is measured in neat lines and careful order, a fragile balance held together by silence. Maeve's presence threatens all of it, her laughter, her light, her refusal to leave him alone. Yet beneath her confidence lies a girl unraveling, one who's starting to see the cracks in everything she's been taught to be. As secrets surface and loyalties fracture, Flightless Bird becomes a story about the cost of wanting more - of love that's too complicated, too honest, too human to fit inside the rules they've both spent their lives obeying. Because some birds aren't meant to fly the way others do. Some are meant to fall, and learn how to rise on their own. "𝙄𝙩'𝙨 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙬𝙝𝙤 𝙮𝙤𝙪'𝙧𝙚 𝙨𝙪𝙥𝙥𝙤𝙨𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙤 𝙗𝙚 𝙨𝙚𝙚𝙣 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝. "Say it again," she breathes, fingers tight in my hair. "I'm yours," I gasp. "I'm only ever yours." __________________ Ruin Me And Call It Love __________________ Silas Crawford wasn't supposed to want her. He came back home broken - no money, no future, no art left in his hands. Just shame, grief, and the memory of the night he watched his mother die. What he didn't expect to find was her. Verena: older, dominant, the woman who used to sit beside his mother at church. The woman who saw him grow up, and now sees him craving something he's never dared ask for. She's everything his father hates. Everything he's not supposed to need. But when she tells him to kneel, he does. When she wraps a hand around his throat and calls him hers, he shatters for her. And when the town finds out who she really is - a dominatrix, a woman without shame - they don't just come for her. They accuse her of knowing more than she should about the night Rosemary Crawford died. Silas has a choice: protect the version of himself his family wanted... or kneel for the woman who's teaching him to be ruined and worshiped in the same breath.
