Muuttaminen uudelle paikkakunnalle heti abivuoden alkajaisiksi ei varsinaisesti kuulunut Iivon to do -listalle, ei varsinkaan, kun uusi paikkakunta oli pieni ja tylsännäköinen, hiljainen tuppukylä keskellä Keski-Suomea. Kun on kahdeksantoista ja tulevaisuus auki, kasa kavereita ympärillä ja kirjoitukset aiheuttamassa omanlaistaan stressiä, sitä vähiten kaipaisi uusia ympyröitä sotkemaan tuttua kuviota. Siitä huolimatta Iivo löytää itsensä seisomasta Kiuruharjun pienen kylälukion aulasta sinä lokakuisena aamuna. Vaatimattoman kyläpahasen kuviot kuitenkin yllättävät. Ei mene kuin hetki, ja Iivo on löytänyt ympärilleen uusia kavereita, kuten yhden alati vitsailevan rokkarin, yhden vehnätukkaisen elovenatytön ja yhden pikkusiskonsa kuolemasta kipuilevan urheilijan. Uudet tuttavuudet ovat tosiaan omaa luokkaansa, mutta yksi nousee suunnittelematta ylitse kaikkien muiden.
