Matilda lives in modern day Britain. What happens when the war from overseas comes to her land? Written in 2014 as a free verse poem/ short story. -UPDATE- One Candle was published in a magazine!

Do you believe that second chances are real? I sure wish I didn't. I mean like, who really thinks you can walk up to someone and be like; "hey, I'm sorry man." And then, BAM, everything's normal. I mean, how unrealistic does that sound. But what if someone you truly cherished once asked for forgiveness? Would you give him the right to wonder back into your life? After five years of being alone, with his child to top all of it off, am I willing to really give Victor Fuentes that second chance? Is this best for Annalise? Is it best for him? But most of all, is it the best for me?

What would you do if that one cherished person had the memory of your love completely wiped? Brooke has gone through so much in her life, death surrounding her every move. All Ricky wanted to do was protect her, due to the abnormal refection he saw of himself in her. How could he have thought that bringing her into a perilous environment could save her life? Ricky explores the difficulties life throws at him, while other evils move in the shadows, tearing the two of them apart. The ulterior motives from her 'dad' are becoming imminent and people get hurt as secrets are spilt. Ricky makes it his priority to win his prized possession back while new relationships are formed and old ones recreated.

Running seems to be her only answer, but who knew she would end up living with one of the baddest boys in the school. Ricky Young. The boy that smokes, parties way too much and does drugs like it's perfectly normal. Will Ricky be able to help her or just turn her to ruins?

You've heard about how Vic and Cat reunited. But how did they come to be? He lightly played with my fingertips as the sun started to die, the night flaring awake. "How would you describe love?" He questioned in a soft voice. I frowned slightly his arm draped over my stomach. Using my free hand, I walked my fingers down his forearm. "Love, is dancing across an edge. You get that adrenaline feeling, but you are also scared out of your wits of falling off. Its like walking on a thin tightrope where everyone is egging you on, but you're off balance. If you find someone to hold your hand and balance you, you feel safe. You have never experienced love, unless you have danced across that edge with somebody." I swirled my finger tip over the back of his hand. I looked up so our faces were level. "Thank you for being my dance partner."
