In the possibility that Palpatine would betray him, Count Dooku instructed his secret apprentice, Jack Trevelyan, to oversee a contingency plan, to reconstruct the Droid Army. Hidden in a secret facility on the remote planet, Virmire, located in the Unknown Regions. Jack had his Tactical Droid, Kraken, oversee the reproduction of the Droid Army and enters cryo-stasis to preserve his youth, reawakening once the time comes.
