The Marauders are starting their fifth year at Hogwarts; Remus is starting with a massive scar across his face - a byproduct of the increasing severity of his furry little problem, which is a definite cause for concern despite his insistence that it it's fine. Sirius is starting with the memories of a certain morning at 12 Grimmauld Place in August: memories that he might not ever forget, yet is desperate to cloak underneath the facade that every is fine at home and that he and his parents just sometimes encounter minor disagreements. James is starting his fifth year, yes, but more importantly, he is starting phase five of his plan to woo Lily Evans: somehow his friends seem doubtful that he might succeed, but James, being James, is in no lack of confidence. And Peter, well, Peter is starting to wonder just why he puts up with these people, and if he should really be feeling sorry for Lily Evans, and maybe if he should have asked to have been sorted into Hufflepuff.

A small paved road in Diagon Alley leads to Potter's Herbs and Misc., where Remus Lupin buys his (surprise, surprise!) herbs and miscellaneous wizarding supplies every weekend. Only one day, he's met with a rather vexatious surprise of cigarette smoke and dreamy grey eyes waiting for him by the name of Sirius Orion Black.

Starting fifth year is difficult. Problems are piling up. Love is difficult, and there are deals you can't possibly get out of. For Sirius, his family is his worst nightmare. It's making his start a rough one. And then when Remus isn't on the train, he starts to panic. He knows he's gay and that makes the whole situation 10x harder. He isn't out yet, and is scared to do so. Aside from James, none of his friends know. For Remus, his lycanthropy is worse than ever. It haunts him, and it eats him. He doesn't know if he can take it much longer. Love is unexplainable at this point in life. Who does he love? What is his sexuality and does he even want to talk about it? For James, dealing with his scarred and anxious friends is a difficult thing. He has a hard time being the adult, but he tries, so hard, he has to. For his friends. Everything for his friends. How is he going to win Lily over? He's more than determined, but doesn't know when to stop and often crosses her line. For Peter, the secrets he happened to find out in year four, are extremely hard to keep. He's a terrible liar but he knows that accidentally slipping something, would mean his death. Relationships are tense and the meaning of true friendship is sometimes forgotten. Merlin help everyone get through year five.....

Maybe if Sirius Black wished for it hard enough, Remus Lupin would be his. If only his family wasn't caught up in an old rivalry resurfacing... Sirius Black screwed up. He told Severus Snape about Remus's secret. Now, he's been expelled from Hogwarts where he is forced to take the Dark Mark and join Voldemort's side of the war. As time rages on, he falls darker and darker. Maybe he'll escape. Maybe he'll join Voldemort for good. Maybe he'll die somehow. He doesn't know. All he knows is that he's starting to lose himself in a desperate attempt to survive. Everyone hurts him and nobody cares about him. The only person he can trust is himself because it's every man for themself in the Noble and Most Ancient House of Black. Or Sirius Black is forced to join the Death Eaters while being helplessly in love with Remus Lupin.

This is set at Hogwarts, when the marauders are in the sixth year, so you know their age. (16-17, I think.) I started this 4 years ago and I will still update it from time to time but I'm not super into Harry Potter anymore.

Two boys. One with a supposedly perfect nerdy life and living out his college years in a flat he shares with his two best friends, astronomy PhD and a life full of wonders ahead of him.
