As we pull up in front of my mansion, I prepare myself for the conversation I'm about to have with my wife. It's a little after midnight and I see the blinds move in the living room and I know she is awake. Awake and pissed. As I walk through the front door, I hear her padding towards me. I'm not scared of much. But all 5'0 of my wife is terrifying. She is fuming as she walks to me but then I notice the confusion as she stares at the bundle of blankets in my arms. Thinking quickly, I push the baby into her arms. She can't hit me if she is holding a baby. "Ares?!" She whisper yells. She looks at the baby and then her eyes snap up to mine. "Hello my love." I peck her lips while she is still in shock. "Don't 'hello my love' me! Where did this baby come from?!" She isn't looking at me anymore. She is stroking the baby's cheek. She is completely mesmerized by her already. "Her father is no longer of this earth. Her mother died giving birth to her. She is alone. She is almost two." Her eyes snap to mine. "Two? She looks much younger than that." "She has had a hard life. Her father was into drugs. I haven't heard her speak other than crying." "Poor baby." I stand there watching my wife fall in love with the toddler. "What's her name?" My beautiful wife asks. "McKenna." "She's beautiful." She whispers. "She's ours." "What?" She looks at me with tears in her eyes. Jared Holmes is the only boy I have ever truly hated. When I was five, he put play-doh in my pigtails and my mom had to cut it out. Thus, leaving me with a ridiculous looking pixie cut. Seven years old, Katie and I were baking cookies for the schools bake sale. Jared was eight at the time and put worms in my cookie dough when I wasn't looking. When I was eight Mr Holmes had built a tree house in the backyard for Katie and Jared. Nine year old Jared pushed me out of it and broke my leg. I started my period when I was thirteen. I was staying the night at Katie's and thank god she had started her period before I had but Jared overheard our conversation and called me 'bloody Mary' for the rest of the year. The first time I had a boyfriend, Jared told him that I had herpes and he broke up with me the next day over text. Let's just say that being Jared's little sisters best friend did not have its perks. Katie Holmes has been my best friend ever since we were both in diapers and her brother was a narcissistic asshole who also happened to be my older sisters best friend. Fun, huh? Jared made it his life's mission to make my life a living hell. He knew just how to get under my skin and he loved every single minute of it. We would argue practically twenty-four seven. People at school were used to us by now. But of course, nobody would say anything to Jared about it because he was, typically, the schools Captain for the hockey team. How cliche. But despite all of that...Jared Holmes was also the only boy that I had ever loved. #16 Bestfriendsbrother 23/12/19 #6 sistersbestfriend 18/10/20 #6 risingstar 18/10/20 #20 badboy 14/12/21

In 1912, Arya, the two-year-old grandson of a Regent in East Indies, found a baby in a basket, abandoned in front of their home. The female baby was then raised by the Adinata family and they called her Maria. Arya and Maria grew up together and were very close. Arya had been in love with Maria, almost for his whole life. He had never seen her as a sister. After Maria graduated secondary school, as was the custom back then, she was supposed to be held at home in seclusion waiting to be married off. This made the autistic but genius girl very upset. She very badly wanted to become a doctor. Arya tried to think of ways and did whatever it takes, to keep Maria in school. He succeeded to fight for her to continue her education after sacrificing three years of his life in an agreement with their grandfather, the Regent. He saved her again. However, after high school graduation, Maria was set to marry an old Regent from another district, to become his third wife. And this was when Arya realized that desperate times called for desperate measures. What would he do to save Maria from their old conservative family's clutch, during the time of Dutch colonization? Back then, women had no rights and were basically the property of their fathers and husbands. How could he save her again and ensure she lived a happy life... even without him?
