[On Hiatus] Izuku Midoriya can't remember a time when he didn't want to be a hero, a time where he didn't have the innate urge to help anyone, and everyone around him. Everyone around him had always told him that he couldn't do it, that he was weak, worthless, or not worth the time, but he never gave up, because he had made a promise to himself, a promise to his mother that he would become a hero. Of course he didn't remember this promise, but thats what you get when you supress half the memories you have from your early childhood in order to keep your sanity. But those memories can't stay buried forever, and when they start to resurface, Izuku's mind is almost as much of a warzone as the outside world is.

Izuku doesn't seem like the depressed type, does he? Not with the happy, determined smile he pulls off. Needless to say, no one notices when those smiles start to become fake. That's what Izuku thinks anyways. Aizawa has other plans
