Joyce é casada com Lonnie e tem dois filhos Jonathan e Will ela é conhecida em Hawkins como a detetive Byers e está passando por vários problemas no seus casamento pois Lonnie não liga pra nada só quer saber do trabalho chegar tarde em casa e fazer viagens sozinhos ela só está ainda casada por conta dos filhos e até tenta salvar o casamento mas a volta do ex namorado pode mudar tudo. Jim Hopper saiu de Hawkins para tentar ter uma vida melhor mesmo tendo que deixar a pessoa que ele mais amou e ainda ama pra trás ele iria pra Nova York mas Joyce não quis ir junto e então eles resolveram terminar e depois daquele dia não se falaram mais e agora quatorze anos depois Hawkins precisa de um novo delegado e Jim que vive sozinho pois nunca conseguiu se envolver com mais ninguém resolve voltar pra Hawkins e ser o novo delegado da cidade mas ele não esperava reencontrar Joyce e ainda ter que trabalhar ao lado dela. Mas esse reencontro não vai dar muito certo pois Joyce não queria ver ele nunca mais já que o mesmo preferiu ir para Nova York mesmo ela pedindo pra ele ficar e Jim também não queria rever ela por ela ter escolhido ficar com os pais que nem ligavam pra ela ao invés de ir com ele. Eles vão ter que fazer o trabalho funcionar mesmo em meio as brigas e discussões. Será que ainda existe algum amor ali? Ou será que só existe ódio agora?
