During that time the illness took away Izuku's sight leaving him permanently blind at the age of 7. Deku was almost ready to give up on his dream of becoming a hero, but Kacchan didn't let this happen. Instead he found new ways to help Izuku through the blindness and even got him special combat training. Izuku is thankful for his friend to this day for helping him get into his dream school and for showing him the light in his dark world.
