Indy Alegria dela Rua, the vice president's daughter, struggles under her perfectionist mother's pressure. Forced into law school despite her own desires, she rebels and suffers from depression and anxiety. After intentionally failing law school and enduring severe punishment from her mother, Indy overdoses on medication but survives. To escape her mother's control, she pretends to have selective mutism and mental instability. Her mother, embarrassed, sends her to Hacienda Alegria. There, while pretending to be lost, Indy meets Thad Ciervo, a charming haciendero.
