School was a nightmare with only one redeeming quality- Jonathan Crane. However, the day the genius of her dreams noticed her became her second worse day after her longest lasting foster father was killed, along with many others, by Victor Zsasz. Shannon herself was almost killed, but instead ended up with a forever lame leg and a new life. One as Shannon Gordon. Sadly for Shannon, homeschool does not last forever, and to become a psychologist, she has to attend Gotham University. It's not all that bad, though. Especially not when a familiar face shows up in the classroom... And then again when she gets a job at Arkham Asylum. But when Zsasz escapes once more, intent on finding out if his unfinished victim actually died, will Shannon be able to stay with Jonathan? Will her fears start ruling her life once more? Will she even live?... Or will the one without fear come to her rescue?

Professor Jonathan Crane of Gotham University takes an interest in a peculiar student as his latest tester of his fear toxin. He finds himself unexpectedly challenged by her. Through trying to prove herself, Daria finds herself falling headfirst into a dangerous world of tumultuous terrors where she finds herself at the mercy of needle-pricks, graded papers and a Scarecrow. Sequel to Never Fear. With the aftermath of Arkham Asylum, Jonathan and Willow set out to start anew. Only the new life they set out to live, doesn't differ that much from their past one. Problems popping up are to be expected. Drug dealing obsessed crime lords, a new secure prison, and family predicaments are just a few hurdles to overcome. Not to mention trying to stay under the radar of the Batman.

Daria and Jonathan consider a relationship that isn't built on fear. Will it survive or will Scarecrow's addiction to terror intervene? Is Jonathan the man Daria thinks he is? Months have passed [since the final chapter of Professor Fear]. It is a new beginning for both Jonathan and Daria. Gotham begins to slowly unveil her hidden rogues and dark knights.
