Her parents wanted her to live a normal life before taking the thrown, so they sent her to live with one of her aunt and uncle's on her mother's side, the aunt and uncle being Sabine and Tom. Marinette goes by the alias Marinette Dupain Cheng but her real name is Maria Cyra Diancie. The kwami's do exist in this and Marinette is still Ladybug in this.
