No, it's not by the lack of education, but a difficulty that has made it hard for him to talk to others. Both have hardships, and both have had to deal with them their own separate ways. That's why they are able to share sympathy towards each other and is able to one way or the other, be able to connect. How they want to continue their friendship is up to themselves to choose.
