Love, hate, smiling, crying, happiness, pain. Life is a huge mixture of all these things. Shadow was a normal 13 year old girl, living her everyday life, before everything suddenly came crashing down. A single mistake of hers will change her life forever. I waited by the window watching for the headlights of a car pull in the drive. They finally shone in the window pane, I sighed and hopped down off my windowsill. I heard the front door shuffle open and feet stumble through the door. My heart began beating faster with every step that the drunk bastard made. "Where are you, you fat bitch? Get down here now! I aint gonna fucking wait for you, sleaze ass." My cheeks burned red. I wanted to jump out of the window and fall to my death. Tears rolled down my face as my father kept calling me names. I heard footsteps pounding and shuffling up the stairs.I opened the window and sat on the sill. I let my feet and legs dangle over the side, I looked down at the ground. Chelsea begins her third year of college, but due to a prior incident, a lot changes on campus and all of the dorms get mixed up. Chelsea finds herself having to share her room with none other than Vic Fuentes and his quiet friend Tony Perry. She really isn't looking forward to this, but maybe, just maybe, it could have its perks? Most characters will be band members, so just forget about their real age and whatnot, it doesn't apply here.

College student Cara Sanders has lived a tough life but keeps her head up all the same. One night at a bar, Cara and Vic Fuentes meet on unlikely terms. Vic is immediately interested in this girl, but Cara isn't so sure. She hasn't let a boy near her since the incident with her alcoholic of a father. Now, falling for Vic in ways she couldn't imagine, she is faced with her worst fear: her abusive father has been released from prison, and is looking for her and her mother. Not only had the man scarred her for life, but he has threatened her with much more than just abuse this time. Vic, on the other hand, swears to Cara he will protect her with his life.
