However, when a rather cheerful, but very much dead Childe shows up in Zhongli's living room, plans have to be placed aside. When the pair turn to Hu Tao for advice, she suggests that in order for Childe to pass onto the next realm, he must first let go of all unfinished business tying him to the mortal realm. Of course, this is easier said than done when a stubborn Harbinger insists he is perfectly at peace with the life he has led. And so Zhongli and Childe find themselves on a journey across Childe's homeland to complete the Harbinger's Bucket List, and discover his final regret together.

After Zhongli's identity is revealed to be more than he was led to believe, Childe endeavours to avoid Zhongli for the remainder of his stay in Liyue, and to forget all that passed between them. However, Zhongli refuses to let matters drop quite so easily, insisting on "talking" and "working things out".
