Set in Autumn 2016. Troye has a year-long working visa allowing him to live in America with Tyler. The issue of Troye's fast-expiring visa has the two men remembering the development of their relationship, and with their memories come several thoughts to consider. Tyler has had social anxiety and panic attacks since he was little. Adding homophobes to the mix, and high school is a hellish place. But when shy Troye Sivan moves from Australia into the small international school, Tyler finds his worries of approaching new people fade away. Little does he know, Troye's backstory may take a little more than assertiveness to heal. But with insight into their own problems, Troye and Tyler will find a way to help bandage each other's wounds. ~*~*~ **[TRIGGER WARNING]** This fic will include social anxiety, panic attacks, domestic violence and self harm and those triggers WILL BE WARNED AT THE START OF CHAPTERS. I apologise for the amount of triggers, but that's the premise of the story. I had planned on smut, but I realised it probably won't happen, but that's why there's an R rating. I can't get it off. Some of characters WILL use homophobic slurs, derogatory language and other inappropriate things will come out of their mouths. Note: This DOES NOT reflect any of my own personal opinions, they are merely fictional representations of characters who are real people. The people included in this will generally be real people. Teachers and extras might not be real, but main characters are actual people. Anything that they do in this fic isn't a representation of them in real life (excluding Sam Pepper who's a scumbag).

And it's better to go under the radar, to be nothing, than to be hated. Right? Tyler, on the other hand, has taken a different approach to a similar problem. No, he can't 'read minds', but he does have a part of himself he doesn't want a soul to know about. He's quarterback, every girl's dream guy, an academic mastermind, and he's also gay. He's seen how different kids get treated, hell, he's been the one to treat them that way before. Why on Earth would he ever wish that on himself? No, it's easier to hide, to be someone you're not, than to be hated. Right?

Troye wants experience and who better to help him than his best friend? Tyler has had feelings for Troye for a while and sees this arrangement as his only chance to be with him.
