Darkness. It was what greeted her as she opened her eyes. Along with the darkness was the unmistakable freezing sensation she felt while lying on the floor. She struggled against the binding on her wrists and ankles. Fear gripped the poor girl as she continued rather futilely to loosen the painful rope that bound her. A screeching of old metal hinges rang out along with a sudden bright light she had to shield herself against. Doing her best to sit up, she watched as a man in a white lab coat slowly walked forward. Upon closer observation, she noticed how his eyes shone with an unreadable glint and smiled rather creepily. He had his hands behind his back, his coat stained with things she rather not think about. When she looked down, she felt her blood run cold. A trail of what she identified as blood followed him, leading further from beyond the open door. He finally held up his right hand carrying a bloody scalpel and leaned into her teary and trembling form. Her desperate cries were muffled by the tape covering her mouth. His smile grew wider as he excitedly murmured, "Commencing experiment number 13." Dahlia Nightingale has never been good at making friends, or being social at all. I guess social anxiety does that to a person though.
