All Fairy-tales have a sad beginning no matter how cheery the princess may be. I think it's to make up for the cliché, cheesy ending but I could be wrong. Take a look at 'Beauty and the Beast', the townsfolk ignore Belle and look at her differently, all because she likes books and some guy wants to make her his wife because she's beautiful and practically describes the role of a wife as if she's a maid.
Then the cliché, cheesy endings. Look at 'Sleeping Beauty', there's the whole meeting a Prince and they have the whole 'Love at First Sight' thing, then she falls asleep and a 'true love's kiss' can wake up her. Her kiss came from the same Prince she just met and doesn't know anything about. If a random guy just kissed me, I would have punched the living daylights out of him.
But here's the thing about 'Cinderella', she has the saddest beginning. Her mom's dead, her father remarries a bitch that has equally bitchy daughters, I doubt she was too happy about that. Then her dad dies leaving her to deal with her stepmother and her daughters that make her their personal slave. That's not all though, her best friends are talking mice. Talk about delusional. Of course she has her happy ending all because she lost her shoe. If I lost my shoe, I would get grounded after being shouted at for a couple of minutes of how I'm irresponsible.
But at some point in my life, my life resembled Cinderella's. I had the deceased mom, the two siblings but they're not ugly, far from it, I went to a party a wasn't supposed to go to and they did, I had the 'Bibbity-Bobbity-Boo' to get there just no fairy godmother, the dance with my prince/king who turned out to be my mate, the running away at midnight and leaving behind an object that could help said mate find me. The only difference is; I don't think I'll get my happy ending.
And like all stories you have to start from the begging and mine starts before the death of my mother.
