This story is about Freen and Becky, whose fates intertwine twice. Becky, an editor, hid her true feelings for years, while Freen, a successful writer, sought inspiration in the worlds she created on paper. Nine years ago, Becky and Freen walked away from each other, leaving behind an unspoken love. Now, fate forces them back together when Freen returns home-and Becky becomes the editor of her new book. Professionalism is all Becky has to hold onto as she works through the pages of Freen's writing. Meanwhile, Freen, who has spent years convincing herself she's over Becky, finds it impossible to ignore the way old wounds ache in her presence. Their reunion stirs up memories, unspoken regrets, and a truth neither of them has ever fully admitted. As they navigate the fragile space between their past and present, Becky and Freen must decide-will they finally face what was left unsaid, or are they destined to remain each other's greatest "what if"?

The coffee was terrible, but Freen had bigger problems. Like the fact that she was about to meet the new prosecutor-some Harvard Law graduate who probably thought proper procedure was more important than actually catching criminals. She'd heard the rumors: uptight, by-the-book, the kind of lawyer who made cops rewrite reports for using "definitely" instead of "appeared to be." When Rebecca Armstrong walked up to her desk in her perfect charcoal suit and introduced herself with a handshake that screamed 'professional boundaries,' Freen knew the rumors were true. Beautiful, polished, and already frowning like Freen had disappointed her without even trying. Twenty minutes later, sitting across from each other in the conference room, they were practically glaring over case files. Rebecca wanted everything rewritten with "specific, observable details"-no conclusions, no interpretations, just facts. Freen wanted to solve crimes, not write dissertations. "You think proper procedure is useless if it lets criminals walk free," Rebecca had said, gathering her papers with sharp movements before leaving Freen alone with her terrible coffee and the distinct feeling that this was going to be the longest case of her career. She had no idea it would also change everything.

Some stories don't need a name. Just two hearts finding their way. When Becky's world falls apart-her fiancé cheating with her cousin, her future unraveling in a single moment-she doesn't expect the quietest person in the room to become her loudest support. Freen has always admired Becky from a distance. Confident, driven, and untouchable... until now. One night, one unexpected act of kindness, and a twist of fate pull them into a connection neither of them saw coming. As Becky faces an unplanned pregnancy and a future she never imagined, Freen stays by her side-not as a savior, but as something deeper. Something real. Through stolen glances, late-night talks, and unspoken moments, the lines between friendship and something more begin to blur. This isn't a love story with grand gestures or perfect timing. It's about choosing someone when it matters most. Even if you don't have the right words for it yet.

Freen's POV - 6 years ago* "You're late, Sarocha!" I rushed into the charity gala, still in uniform. Everyone else looked fancy. I looked like I'd just arrested someone. Which I had. Then I saw her. Beautiful girl in a black dress, surrounded by boring old men. She looked... trapped. Like she'd rather be anywhere else. "That's Becky Armstrong," Nam whispered. "Armstrong Industries princess. Way out of your league." But something about how alone she looked... "I'm gonna talk to her." "FREEN, NO!" Too late. I was already walking over. "Ms. Armstrong? I'm Officer Freen Sarocha. Want to get some air?" She turned, brown eyes meeting mine, and smiled. A real smile. "I thought you'd never ask." --- Freen's POV - Present day I stare at the old photo on my desk. Becky and me, laughing at some café. So young. So happy. So unaware of what was coming. Five years since everything fell apart. My phone buzzes. Officer Sarocha? This is Richard Armstrong. We need your help. It's about my granddaughter... Roni. The daughter I've never met. "I'll be right there." I look at the photo one more time. Are you ready to see her again, Freen? No. But a child is missing. And despite everything, I'd still do anything for Becky. Even if it destroys me all over again.
