Something strange begins to happen to Grian, and he leaves the Island for information. But of course, his fellow Hermits have to come rescue him. He spends some time recovering and thinks it's all in the past. But after accidentally poisoning Mumbo, Grian discoveres the story isn't quite over yet.

Bryce isn't happy they are just waltzing into his house to stay, but he needs company and would be lonely without anyone. It isn't long before drama unfolds, and Bradley Silva Jr was bitten by an unknown sea creature. He begins to develop a fever after an hour of contact, and he begins to act rather... odd. Bryce has a job as a pharmacy cashier, but doesn't recall a medicine for some odd behaviors Bradley's son exhibits. When this seems to spread, it is labeled a virus. Many and many people begin to get infected, including some people Bryce used to compete with. This is all getting out of hand... and Bryce needs to fix it... But how can Bryce stop it? What even are the symptoms? No, a better question is... IF Bryce stops it, can he stop the virus from infecting himself? Because this virus is driving everyone, infected or not, to the brink of their sanity.
