#1 Teen Fiction | #1 Young Adult | #1 Romance "We all need someone to drive us mad." - The Wombats. He stared arrogantly down at me, a smirk plastered across his face. I sneered up at him with distaste, wanting to wrap my fingers around his neck and strangle that smirk off of him. He brushed my golden hair from my face, his long, slender fingers sparking electricity in my skin, making my knees wobble together. "Will you ever, forgive me?" he whispered huskily, his eyes intently staring into mine. His face was only mere inches from me. I just needed to reach out a little further to kiss him... "Yeah. Over my dead body." I snapped, before throwing my arms out forcefully, shoving my hands into his chest, pushing him from me. -*-*-*- He, is Carter Williams. I, am Lacey Adams. We were once, inseparable. The 'Golden Couple'. The unbreakable best friends, that everybody envied. Nothing could get between us. A part from being tighter than white on rice, we updated our status from friends to being in a relationship, frequently. We were neighbours, which meant our families were all close and even co-owned houses around our town. This, all is, until the day of my sixteenth birthday. Everything changed. The loving relationship we shared, was severed and torn apart. I couldn't hardly stand to look at him any more, without spitting fire that is. Every day is torture being around him. He was in all my classes at school and the window in my room was even directly aligned with his. So, what happens? My mother's mum gets sick, so dad and her fly out. Just them. Leaving me to stay with Carter and his parents, who are never home. We would be alone. In one house. Under the same roof. If I was insane before, I have no idea what I am now. © 2016 by LaurenJ22. Elle Grayson's guilty pleasure is reading cheesy romance novels. Always has been, always will be. Maybe that's why she's never had a boyfriend - no guy can live up to her expectations of the guys in romance novels. She doesn't think there is one guy that can prove to be even half as decent as guys in books. But when there's somebody set on doing exactly that, things just might start to change. "Sometime in the middle of my junior year, Miss Dennings, my intrusive English teacher decided¬ not even bothering to ask my parents for permission, that I should take part in one of those noisy and useless socializing circles her husband held every Sunday morning. Saying that I had absolutely no need to go there would be a completely pitiful lie because, let’s face it, I was a self-proclaimed introverted freak and talking to a refrigerator sounded way more appealing than interacting with another human being." Yes, I did need the socializing circle becasue of my trust issues with other people. Yes, I did need someone to listen to my incoherent ranting. Yes, I did need a new start. But hell if I knew Joshua Carter was going to be my saviour.

"They stretch and stretch, two ends being held until one falters and snaps. And as expected, one end suffers a little bit of a sting." "So you like rubber bands?" "I guess, they aren't exactly significant." "Well I just thought since-" "They don't mean anything." *** Dakota Brooks was that girl at school that everybody knew, yet nobody knew at all. They knew of her name, the name that was titled for being the class secretary. She wasn't popular and she wasn't a nobody, Dakota was just there and she was fine with that. A.J. Fischer could be referred to as a nobody. His daily schedule consisted of waking up, going to school, and coming home to his laptop. In school he had minimal friends but was disregarded due to his quiet nature and rather blank stare. Really AJ was nothing more than a mind in an empty body. So with a rather strange clash of their worlds, Dakota and AJ find themselves sat in the middle of Chemistry with nothing more than one rubber band in front of them. And isn't it funny to think that something so small would make such a massive change in their lives?

A/N: This is an unedited, significantly different version of the soon to be published novel by losangelesque aka L. Akhter. This draft was written when I was 15-18 years old and I highly encourage new readers to read the published version instead. Former high school football star Frank Novak meets profound and depressed loner Lolita Abri - and falls headfirst into love. Throughout the course of one school year, they unravel each other and their sadness, setting apart their differences and realizing that sometimes love isn't enough - and sometimes it just might be.
