"Do you regret kissing me, Ishika?" His voice dropped-dark, low, and possessive enough to steal the air from my lungs. My entire body froze. Not because I didn't know the answer- But because I did. My breath hitched, sharp and aching. Regret? God. If only he knew what that kiss did to me. His grip didn't loosen. His fingers dug gently into my wrist, grounding me to him, to the heat of his body pressed against my back. I could feel every inch of him-dangerous, intoxicating, magnetic. "Ishika," he rasped again, each syllable laced with something desperate. Something real. "Do. You. Regret. It?" I should lie. Say it meant nothing. That it was a mistake. But my heart? It was screaming. Screaming for him. No. No, I didn't regret it. I couldn't. If I had, I wouldn't still feel his taste on my lips. I wouldn't still be burning from the ghost of his touch. I wouldn't still be aching for more. "We wouldn't be kissing for so long...and still not want to let go...if I regretted that," I whispered-my voice trembling, My voice trembled. "If I regretted it, Veer..." I whispered, "...I wouldn't be standing here, craving your mouth on mine again." And that's it- I felt the pull.

And as soon as we entered in the hospital, my friend Raina-who had just begun her night shift-spotted us. She rushed over, her face clouded with concern. "Who... who is he? And where did you find him? In this condition?" "Let's focus on treating him first," I replied, helping the stranger towards the public ward. A while later, after Raina and I had cleaned his wound and dressed it, he seemed a little better. His breathing had steadied, but he still winced when he moved. "How do you feel now?" I asked. "I... I'm fine. Thank you for helping me," he said, his hand instinctively grazing his injured shoulder as if trying to mask his pain. "Who are you? And how did you get hurt?" I questioned, my voice laced with curiosity. For a moment, he said nothing. His gaze lingered on me, unreadable. And then, with a faint smirk, he finally spoke. "𝘈𝘥𝘪𝘵. 𝘔𝘺 𝘯𝘢𝘮𝘦 𝘪𝘴 𝘈𝘥𝘪𝘵. 𝘈𝘯𝘥 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘴?" "𝘔𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘪," I answered, hesitating for a fraction of a second. Just then, from the small television mounted on the ward's wall, a breaking news headline caught my attention: "A major update from Delhi! What had I done? Rajveer Pratap Ranawat was a crime lord, king of the fucking underworld and I was here, in his den with nothing but a notepad and a pen. His presence was suffocating, bone chilling. "You think you can uncover my secrets, Miss Sharma?" His voice was a low, dangerous rumble, sending a shiver down my spine. "You're playing a dangerous game." I squared my shoulders, trying to muster the same bravado that had carried me into this lion's den. "I'm not playing," I retorted, my voice betraying a hint of defiance laced with unease. "I'm here for the truth, no matter how deep it runs." A predatory smile tugged at the corners of his lips, his dark eyes gleaming with something that sent a chill through me. "Oh, I know your kind," he murmured, taking a slow step closer until his presence enveloped me. "Bold on the surface, trembling underneath." "I'm not afraid of you," I insisted, though the way his fingers brushed against my arm sent a jolt of electricity through me. His expression hardened, his grip tightening just enough to convey his power. "You should be," he whispered, his breath hot against my cheek. "In my world, fear is survival." His eyes bore into mine with a primal intensity, a challenge and a warning wrapped into one. "You are already in deeper than you realize," he murmured, his voice softening imperceptibly. "And now that you are in, there is no turning back." The room seemed to close in around us and then is when I realised that I had stepped into a dangerous game-one where the lines between adversary and attraction blurred dangerously, threatening to consume me in ways I never imagined possible. "And you, my Dove," Rajveer's voice cut through the thick silence like a blade, chilling me to the core. His tone held a possessive edge, cold and commanding. "look like you are meant to be mine. And what is mine," he paused, his dark eyes boring into mine with an intensity that sent a shiver down my spine, "stays with me."

Mr. Raichand, you are my boss, not my therapist. I don't find it professional." I told the man sitting opposite to me in his black suit and thumb pressing his lip as he continued to look at me. " Shivanya, things have never been professional between you and me ever since you walked in for that interview. Since then, I have thought about you in seven hundred ways, none of which closely resonates with me being your boss or you being my employee." The thing is, he doesn't mince words outside the Courtroom. I am sorry, what?" I asked, shocked. " You heard me right for the first time." He did not repeat him words but continued to look at me, standing a few feet away from and looking intimidating just as ever. The thing was, I hated being looked at for too much. Much of this insecurity came from being curvy and not being comfortable under my own skin. But his gaze was something else. It did not make me uncomfortable in the way people usually do, it was almost as if he was looking at me. Not my looks or my work, but at me. " You fail to understand, sir. When I tell you that I don't want your help in something which is not related to work, I mean it. Apart from that, if I find myself in a difficult position in a case, I know where to find you." I took a step back and turned around to collect my laptop and bag to leave but his voice stopped me again. " I have been waiting for you longer than you know of it Miss Chopra. You will find out soon enough." His words sounded dangerously close to a promise, sending a shiver down my spine as he once again sat down in the chair next to where I was standing. " Have a good day sir." I hurried out of the Conference room once I had everything. Ignorance is bliss, until it is not. She knows of it. He knows of it. He accepts it, she does not. They are not opposites but they are in no way similar either. But the real question is, will she acknowledge it?
