Why? Regulus kept thinking. Why did I have to fall for someone like James? Someone so loud and obnoxious, so attention seeking, someone so utterly out of my league. Really? My brothers best friend? Plus everything going on at home, could things be more confusing? Regulus almost wants to hit James most times. Would these feeling ever leave? If not, could James ever return his affection? Does Regulus even deserve to be loved? He's not much of a lovable person... What Regulus doesn't know, is that James will do whatever it takes for Regulus to know that he is. -------------------------- (Fan art I use is not mine, unless I say it is) None of these characters are mine either btw. Sorry if storyline gets choppy, I'm just making it up as I go basically, and I sometimes forget the things I've already written. I have ideas for the future, and I'm basically just filling in the gaps. Also sorry if my writing style changes ever so slightly, first time writing a fan fiction, so there's lots of room for improvement, especially in the first chapters. Also the story line kind of involved Regulus hanging out with the Marauders a lot, but not becoming one. He will become an Animagus though. *CROSSPOSTED FROM AO3* It was nearing the end of his fifth year at Hogwarts, and Regulus Black was getting on with it. Things at home had been far from perfect since Sirius ran away and left him behind, but that didn't mean that he'd stopped caring about his brother altogether. He just wasn't willing to admit that to Sirius. So when Regulus is woken one night by an infuriated Severus Snape, he doesn't want to get involved with whatever his brother's latest 'prank' is. But seeing him isolated from his friends in the following days, and worried about what the coming summer will bring, Regulus decides that he has no option but to get involved. He couldn't possibly be aware of what would happen when he pushes himself into the orbit of one James Potter. With the threat of war looming and Potter busy chasing that muggleborn girl, what could possibly pass between him and Regulus that would compromise the Slytherin?

It started with just seven steps to try and win Potter's affection, but life and relationships are rarely as easy as a checklist on a piece of parchment.

Remus was glad he could play the song well enough by now that he didn't have to look down at his hands constantly, but then he made the stupid mistake of looking up at Sirius. He was drenched in sweat and his satin shirt clung to his torso, his dark hair hanging over his face in glistening black waves. Remus felt his breath catch in his throat as Sirius locked eyes with him, making his way over to Remus as he continued to sing, before leaning against the back of the piano to sing to Remus. Remus prayed that the heat of the stage and their performance would suit as a good enough excuse as to why his face was probably flushed red. He didn't think that Sirius Black could look any more gorgeous than he did at that moment, his grey eyes alive with joy, the light catching them as he stared at him, singing in his slightly husky voice, his face shiny with sweat and that damn guitar slung around his shoulder. OR in which the marauders decide to start a band whilst they're at hogwarts :) NOTES -so obviously this is set in the 70s, so i know technically not all the songs in this fic would have been released at the exact time this is set but i just really wanted the marauders to vibe to certain songs so please just accept it ;) and i mean- they're still songs from 70s-80s it's just that some of them came out a little later than when the marauders were in fifth year... -i also know that technically sirius ran away from home in the year this was set but i dont really touch upon it so sorry ab that, and i dont talk about prefect remus either but hey oh well -also the marauders do use the room of requirement in this fic, even tho in canon its likely they never discovered it at their time in hogwarts since it doesn't show up on the marauders map but hey it's a fanfic so don't come at me ty :) started: 12th May 2023 finished:
