"She deserves better, April. She and I, we're too alike. She deserves to be safe." He turned and began walking away. April was furious. "She always told me you saved her, Randy," she called after him. "Every time. YOU saved her." If he heard her, he didn't reply. The door swung closed behind him, and April was left reeling, wondering how she could explain to everyone why he wasn't there.

Mayor Mickey was always up for a devious lick. A well-laid plan coming together gave him an almost sensual thrill. And for his friends and family, he would create the most elaborate, exciting plans, with a... reasonable chance of success. This plan... was not it. He didn't even plan it, some crazy woman with a karambit did! He couldn't believe he was going along with this plan, which was almost certainly going to fail. But if it was all for Randy Bullet...
