Cyrus Goodman and TJ Kippen didn't realize how important they were to each other until they first interacted in Jefferson Middle School's cafeteria, when Buffy told TJ these words: "You have to get my friend Cyrus here, a chocolate chocolate chip muffin." That's where it started everything. Cyrus Goodman was an unathletic dude, who had a crush on Jonah Beck. He was best friends with Andi and Buffy, and thought it would stay like that forever. He was gay, and only certain people knew. TJ Kippen was an athlete who was an intimidating jerk to so many people. He was sexist, a jerk, anything "bad" you could possibly think of. They say opposites attract, however, and this story is one of many examples.

When Cyrus finds a playlist on TJ's desktop full of old love songs, he realizes that TJ has never been a scary basketball guy but rather a huge sap. TJ just wished Cyrus could realize that all of those songs remind him of a certain boy who likes chocolate chocolate chip muffins without telling him directly. With insecurities and fears almost set in stone, it's hard for TJ to admit that he has a heart aching crush on Cyrus who is trying to avoid just that. Of course, it doesn't seem like both of them are trying to get over each other when they're always together.

Cyrus has always been moved from different foster homes until Ryan and Eric take him in. Tj is the captain of the basketball team and is one of those guys that is hard to hate. When their paths meet the only question to ask is will Tj will rub off on Cyrus or will Cyrus rub off on him.
