تحكي الرواية عن رجلين يسيران في طريقٍ واحد لكن بقلوبٍ متعاكسة. سلومو؛ يبدو صلبًا كمن عرف الحياة ونجا منها، ساخرًا كمن يضحك ليخفي عمق ما يرى، وفي داخله قلب عطوف ينهك نفسه في فهم الآخرين وإنقاذهم. وكلاش؛ قناع من قسوة، وصوت عالٍ يخفي ارتعاش الداخل، يبحث عن اعترافٍ لا يطلبه، وعن احتواءٍ لا يعرف كيف يناله. بينهما صداقة مشوبة بالتنافر، وحديثٌ ثقيل ، ومواقف يومية تتحول إلى مرايا تكشف هشاشة القوة وقوة الهشاشة. الرواية واقعية حدّ الوجع، شاعريّة بلا تكلّف، لغتها تميل للسواد حين يشتد المشهد، وتلين حين يتعب القلب، وتترك القارئ في منطقة رمادية... حيث لا أحد منتصر تمامًا، ولا أحد بريئًا تمامًا
