ABOUT THE STORY: A girl(name undisclosed) goes to San Francisco with a few questions for Sohrab,a character in her favourite book, her visit turns her world upside down, she learns about his entire story, beginning to end,but coincidence is a funny thing and his story alters hers in a manner no one ever could have predicted. The idea for this book was purely mine, but I owe it to the Great Khalid Husseini...if for not his gorgeous book, this story would not have been written,so the entire story, every single word is dedicated to him and his genius, which is 'The Kite Runner' I would recommend reading 'The Kite Runner' before you pick this book up because I may or may not ruin parts from it...and then don't say I didn't warn you. This is a fictitious story and any resemblance to anyone living...or dead is purely coincidental.

Inspired by the non-fictional, historical lives of Sir Joseph Banks, Nicolas Baudin, Captain William Bligh, Matthew Flinders and John Macarthur, this 'coming of age' story is set at the dawn of the nineteenth century. It describes Charlotte, an English orphan, being saved from unimaginable misery by a young Irish Catholic priest, Reverend Sean Simmons. Charlotte cannot dream that she is about to embark on a fantastic journey that will take her from the manored estates of gentrified England to the brutal convict settlement on Terra Australis. Navigating the mire of desperate circumstances and characters she encounters along the way will test her mettle and spirit. Yet, meeting the strange and enigmatic Charlotte will also test every person who encounters her on the journey in unpredictable and uniquely different ways. Charlotte, it appears, brings change; nothing is the same again - least of all, the future Australian colony she longs to call home.

In Book I of the trilogy, Tamras, our hero, arrives in Merin’s house to begin her apprenticeship as a warrior, but her small stature causes many, including Tamras herself, to doubt that she will ever become a competent swordswoman. To make matters worse, the Lady Merin assigns her the position of companion, little more than a personal servant, to a woman who came to Merin’s house, seemingly out of nowhere, the previous winter, and this stranger wants nothing to do with Tamras. Tamras’s journey begins with the smallest of steps. She sets aside her disappointment and performs as well as she can the humble tasks given her, and eventually she succeeds in winning the trust and then the friendship of the cantankerous warrior to whom she has been assigned. In the first year of her journey, Tamras will make a series of choices that often seem insignificant, but they will flow from her character and from her good intentions, and they will determine her destiny.
