"You shouldn't assume things," Jimmy replied, glancing over at Lydia, who was rolling around in the grass in all her pale long-limbed glory. "She's the strongest person I know."
Matt looked back at her, to find her sitting up, a cigarette hanging between her fingers as she chewed on her thumb, staring straight at him with narrowed eyes, as if assessing him.
Then she stood up and strolled over to them, a wry smile on her almost-red lips. "I don't believe we have met. I'm Lydia. Lydia Wilk."
His smirk matched hers and he shook her outstretched hand. "Matt. Matt Sanders."
