"You know this is wrong." I nodded, breathing hard.
"You know how bad this could be for both of us."
I nodded again.
Her voice dropped lower. "You know how bad you're being right now, Lalia. Following me in here. Pushing every single boundary I've set."
A small giggle slipped out before I could stop it. "Then why aren't you stopping me, Doc?"
That did something to her. Andrea let out a low scoff.
Her hand came up to my throat, firm and controlling, but not painful. She spun us around with surprising strength and pushed me back against the sink.
My hips hit the marble edge, and I gasped.
"I've allowed that smart mouth of yours to go unchecked for far too long," she murmured, eyes dark as she looked down at me.
"But if you want what I know you've been desperate for, you're going to have to behave. Do you understand?"
I nodded quickly.
She squeezed my throat just a little tighter. "Words, sweetheart."
"Yes," I whispered. "I understand."
"Good girl."
.....
Lalia Bishop is tired of the pills, the white walls, and the careful way people talk to her like she's glass about to break. Diagnosed with borderline personality disorder after a suicide attempt, she's been in and out of psychiatric hospitals for years, cycling through therapists who either pity her, fear her, or grow frustrated with her unpredictability. None of them lasted until Dr. Andrea Cross.
