This novel is an adaptation of Beauty and the Beast. Blind since birth, Elle Duncan has only ever known darkness, but lack of sight has never hindered her ability to perceive the beauty of the world. Her kind and gentle soul is put to the test when her father sustains an injury that threatens their livelihood, and in desperation, he turns to the most unlikely of saviors-the Rossetti Beast. Don Rossetti is bound for an unchanging fate. He is bad-tempered, with an equally dark and scarred countenance to match. With a heart forged of ice and a soul confined to darkness, he has surrendered to a forlorn existence. But when a peasant man arrives from the village begging for a favor, he is compelled to aid the farmer in exchange for a price-a price that Elle will be forced to pay. She grew up in a world different from his. While he conquered battles, she read books and studied history. While he led an entire pack of wolves, she drowned in knowledge about the realm they live in. While lives hang in his shoulder, she was taught not to associate with any of his kind. But they knew all too well to know that fate does not work like that, and people who are destined for one another, will meet no matter how big the differences between them are. --

It happened every month; on every second Sunday, at exactly 11:59 P.M. the screams would start, echoing around the world like a dreadful reminder. Anyone, human or not, who heard the screams of pain and terror would know that once again, The Event had started. Routines were the same everywhere. Mothers would usher their children into their homes, whether big or small, while fathers and father figures alike would silently protect and pray; pray that The Even never hit their towns or came near their families. Children under twelve years of age would be left curious, once again wondering about what had caused the shrill screams and why. If above the age of twelve, children would join their fathers in praying silently in their hearts; for they knew the consequences of The Event. But there was always one category of people that prayed the most, hoped the hardest, and worried constantly. During The Event, one could often find females, between the ages of thirteen and twenty-one sitting in corners, surrounded by those who would give their lives to protect them. Tears would be rolling down their cheeks as even their screwed shut eyes leaked them. Most would bite their lip in order to contain sobs, so hard that often, there were also small, thin streams of the dark liquid tumbling down their chins. The terror they felt, naked and strong on their faces, made it hard for anyone to lay their eyes on the females during The Event. They had everything to fear, because they were the ones being hunted. It happened every month; on every second Sunday, at exactly 11:59 P.M. the screams would start. And then, at precisely midnight, the screams would silence immediately, letting the world know that The Event was over for the moment. Everyone knew that, somewhere, a girl between the ages of thirteen and twenty-one had been taken, and would never be seen again in history. This time, that unlucky girl just happened to be me.

I stepped towards him, the Mate that was to be mine for all eternity. But before I could leap into his arms, he put his hands up, as if to tell me not to do what was an instinct. I held myself back, it confused me that he wasn't standing in front of me with open arms, and he was closed off. Before I could truly grasp what was happening, he said in a low sexy voice that travelled through my body sending tiny shock waves throughout, "I don't want you."

[BOOK 2] NOTE FROM AUTHOR: "I wrote this book in High school, so if you don't like it and find it poorly written, I completely understand" Selene is the abomination to her race; half-human wolf, no one knows her secret except her even more secretive father. If anyone were to find out what she was it could mean in her untimely death. When her father's past comes hunting him down, Selene's forced to live in a house occupied by all-male inhabitants--unmated, bad-mannered, and untamed wolves that obey a temperamental young Alpha. Alpha Lucca wants nothing to do with the she-wolf that clings to his new Beta's back. Hard to ignore the fact that she is aggressive, beautiful and exactly the type of girl he'd want, Lucca is bent on evading her from his thoughts...and his dreams. Selene proves to add to his long list of problems as she spends everyday near his line of sight and out of his reach. He goes out of his way to make it clear that he loathes her, but but not in the way she thinks. Drawn to her like a moth to a flame, Lucca desires to keep her in his dominion, whether she likes to or not. Written: 2012
