What if the night LAN Zhan had first asked Wei Ying to come to Gusu with him he had actually not allowed the misunderstanding to happen? This is my idea of what could have happened. (Fixed the timeline issues to be a bit more realistic though not sure if I am still a bit off.)

Wei Ying had been sent back in time to when he was 4 years old.
