Being a Muslim teen that wears the veil is like a taboo. She gets bullied, insulted, disrespected.
After moving to LA with her family, Aya re-enters the door she thought she had closed and is determined to this time show people that covering her head doesn't make her any different from them. She isn't going to let anyone criticize her for wearing it - again.
But, it isn't that easy; fighting against a whole school. Struggling to keep relationships, fit in with everyone else, and being careful not to disrespect her religion are things that she never expected that she would have to face. All she wants is to live like everyone else, a normal teen. What she doesn't realize is that being the only Muslim in High School requires much more energy than she expected.
