After a night of wonder under flowers and fireworks, Penelope Featherington thought she was on top of the world. Things seemed to go perfectly for once in her life. Until, her best friend discovers something she's been hiding for years. And to top it all off she overhears a conversation she was never meant to hear. And for the first time in her life Penelope truly feels like she's alone in the world. Penelope must look inside herself and decide once and for all if she will continue her usual wallflower ways or if it's time for her to step into the spotlight and claim the life she has always dreamed of having. Colin Bridgerton was, in his own estimation, perfectly happy being single. He enjoyed the occasional dance with the beautiful debutantes and his charming ways lead him to be quite a flirt. However he knew deep down it meant nothing. He was not in search of a wife, in fact he wasn't even ready to entertain the idea of finding one. He did however find himself involved in a rather deep and genuine friendship with one, Miss Penelope Featherington. But when his own foolish remarks threaten to ruin there relationship forever, he must decide whether he can let her go or if there is maybe something he hadn't seen in her before. Could Prince Charming (or rather Mr. Charming) truly set aside his rakish ways for one wallflower? Or will the secrets she's hiding tear them even farther apart? What happens when a wallflower blossoms?

Penelope Featherington bestfriend is Colin Bridgerton sister name Elosie Bridgerton. Colin doesn't really love Penelope like she wants him to but what if something changes his mind about her. Note: I love Julia Quinn and this book, but I always found that post-carriage scene and everything leading up to the wedding rather rushed and unsatisfying. So many things that I looked forward to seeing play out were just glanced over. I wanted a bit more out of their courtship. So I'm having a little fun, starting with his proposal at the end of thirteen and changing things from there.

Penelope Featherington returns from the country more determined than ever to forget young Colin Bridgerton and find a husband who deserves her. But trouble is brewing when her feelings can't be buried and others begin to blossom.
