Nathaniel has been a pirate for half his life, sailing the clouds on airships powered by steam and magic. He has grown tired of the danger and hardship and wants to start a new life free of his past, perhaps with a woman by his side. This is a rewrite of my earlier short story "A pirate's last flight." I decided to rewrite it for a couple reasons. First to refine it and polish it a bit more. Second, and more importantly, to put it in the low fantasy/steampunk inspired world I'm currently writing other stories in.

For a decade, the Northern Dukedom of Blakemore has endured the iron-fisted rule of Duke Dominic Samael Blakemore, a ruthless ruler who conceals his face behind a menacing horned mask. Those who have seen him described him as a towering and slender man with hair as dark as the depths of midnight. An unsettling and almost unholy shade. Throughout his reign, the Duke's authority faced numerous challenges, from dissatisfied subjects, rival Dukedoms, the formidable influence of the Holy Church, or even the power of the Holy Emperor himself. Yet, despite all odds, none had managed to dislodge him from his position of power. In this backdrop of seemingly insurmountable control, a courageous group emerged from the Western Dukedom, determined to topple the Duke's oppressive regime. The odds were overwhelmingly against them, and one might wonder what chance they honestly had. Surprisingly, against all expectations, they not only survived their audacious assault but also managed to infiltrate the forbidding obsidian walls of his fortress. However, the outcome was far from a victory as only three of the four daring infiltrators emerged from the shadowy abyss of the Duke's sinister castle. This is their tale. A story of the life they led within the Duke's castle and the many secrets it holds. Magical Rose Mini Awards | Best characters

She's got the powers, now it's time to save the guy. _____________________________ When Laura Summers (a coffee lover, Gilmore Girls fanatic and c-grade student) discovers the new kid in town is heavily suicidal, she can't stand by and watch his downfall - even if he doesn't know who she is. Or what she can do. ______________________________ "You're the one who chose to sleep next to me." "No," she frowned, "you pulled me. I was perfectly happy on the ground." "You didn't object." Laura rolled her eyes, "You grabbed my waist and trapped me in your arms." "Pretty much like I'm doing now?" "Exactly like you're doing now," she whispered, breathing hard and heavily while Oliver was cool and collected. "Funny that," he chuckled. ______________________________ rewritten version of The Mind of a Mind Reader, new and improved! |• an odd contemporary romance •| #1 in ironic 6th/Oct/21 #1 in novella 31st/Oct/21 #30 in telepathy 11th/Jan/22 #221 in rewrite 1st/Nov/21 #26 in mindreading 12th/Nov/21 infrequent updates but im doing the best I can 🤍

When Emmy's best friend, the King of the Dark Fae, pulls her into Court for her own safety, her life shatters into a world of danger, desire, and deception. And the fae who tempts her most is the one she can never trust. *~*~*~*~*~*~* Emmy has always known her best friend isn't human-he's the King of the Fae, ruling a realm where beauty is a weapon and loyalty comes at a cost. As rebellion rises and Damien's power begins to fracture, Emmy agrees to help him find a queen-someone who can legitimize his reign and calm the chaos threatening to consume his court. But in the glittering danger of the fae world, Emmy meets a mysterious man-a ruthless, magnetic fae whose allegiance belongs to no one. His interest in her is as sharp as it is dangerous, and every moment she spends near him draws her deeper into a web of conspiracy and deceit she can't escape. Caught between loyalty and temptation, light and ruin, Emmy must decide what she's willing to sacrifice. Because in a realm where crowns are won with blood and hearts are broken for sport, even love can be treason. ~*Author's Note*~ This is a slow-burn dark fantasy with sharp edges. Expect morally grey characters, power imbalances, quiet choices that hurt more than loud ones, and a romance that is intense, complicated, and not always safe. No one here is purely good, no one is entirely honest, and love does not guarantee mercy. If you're looking for a story about agency, survival, and what it costs to matter in a world that would rather use you-welcome. Read carefully.

"Your name is Kenneth Kentucky and you work at McDonalds?" I glared at him, "Would you like Fries with that?" He began laughing hysterically and I sighed impatiently, waiting for him to stop. Suddenly, he stopped and then, putting both his hands on the counter, staring right into my eyes, he whispered, "I'd like Fries with you." My eyes widened as it slowly registered that Golden Boy McHarden had just openly flirted with me.
