It's an alpha omega story line.. Alec is an alpha and magnus as an omega.

When Alec Lightwood is possessed by a demon, he becomes reckless. No one knows that he is possessed. He was always acting weird. It's when Alec almost kills his own parabatai that the rest of the group starts to worry about him. When he breaks up with Magnus, they knew something was up. But what? Who doesn't love Malec? When Alec goes missing, Magnus's whole world collapses. Jace won't speak to anyone. Isabelle and Clary are always out looking for him. Magnus is heartbroken. He only knew one thing: he had to find him before it was too late. Note: This is based on the Shadowhunters TV series, and therefore may contain spoilers for all three seasons.
